Teenage girl found dead in Sydney home
A 15-year-old girl has died in a Sydney home after being found unresponsive in her bedroom earlier this month, police said.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said on Tuesday that police had received information about the death and that a post-mortem examination had been conducted.
“At this time there is no further information to confirm the cause of death,” the spokeswoman said.
Police were called to the property on Friday morning after the woman reported her daughter had been unresponsive.
Police found the teen dead in the bedroom, which had been locked, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said they had launched an investigation.
Neighbour and family friend Robert Bannister said the girl had been a social media girl.
She was very friendly and liked playing sports with friends, and was a bit shy, he said.
“It’s very tragic.”
The mother of the girl, who was not named, said the family was devastated.
“I just think that she had a lot of heart,” she said.
The NSW Ambulance Service confirmed a teenager had been found dead at a home on Sydney’s south coast.
It was the third reported death of a 15-to-17-year old this year in the city.
