Biden inaugural Youth Wading Team (YWT) will begin their professional season with the 2018-19 season on March 23rd, 2018, with the New York Rangers playing host to the New Jersey Devils in the second round of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
“We are extremely excited to begin the next chapter in our careers, joining one of the best youth hockey leagues in the world,” Biden said.
“The New York YWT has been a strong supporter of the sport and the NY Rangers organization since its inception, and I can’t wait to bring this great league to the rink.
It’s an honor to represent the organization and the city we love and have such a strong bond with, and hope to bring some of our fellow players with us to New York City.”
The New Jersey-born Biden, who is currently with the Erie Otters of the American Hockey League (AHL), was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round (72nd overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and has scored two goals and four assists in 38 games with the Sabres, Buffalo Sabres Hockey Club, Erie Otter and the Albany Devils.
Prior to joining the Sabres organization, Biden was with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League for six seasons and was a member of the Erie Comets of the AHL from 2005-10.
He is also a member on the coaching staff with the University of Vermont’s men’s hockey program.
The NYYWT will compete in their first season with four players and three goaltenders.
The team has a roster spot open at 21.
The NYYCW will be the first organization in the league to have a full season under a coach since the Rochester Americans in 2002-03.
