Newcastle United’s youth soccer star is the face of NCFC’s youth program
Newcastle United has signed 18-year-old midfielder, Alex Henshaw, the club announced.
The midfielder will join the North Carolina FC Academy and will join a group of young players in Newcastle’s youth football program.
“Alex is a big personality, so we’re delighted to have him on board,” Newcastle United head coach Rafael Benitez said.
Alex has already made a name for himself at Newcastle United, scoring twice in three appearances for the club in the Premier League last season.
He was named to the Premier league’s Young Player of the Year award for the season ending March 28.
In the Premier and Championship this term, Henshaws first-team appearances included appearances for Newcastle United and Manchester United, before he moved to the Championship for the 2018-19 season.
He is currently a member of the United States Under-20 Men’s National Team.
“I’m really excited about being here with Newcastle United,” Henshy said.
“I was looking forward to going and training with the first team but they’re also a really good club so I’m really looking forward.”
There are a lot of young guys here and I’m excited to get on the pitch and work with them.
