Bemidjis hostel offers a place to stay, but not for all ages

Bemidas hostel’s mission statement is simple: “We believe in a world of opportunity and a world where everyone has the opportunity to have a good life.”

For more than 40 years, Bemida has hosted youth hockey programs and tournaments.

“It’s not just for the kids,” said Bemidiks hockey coach Mike Goss.

“It’s also for all the people that want to play.”

For those who are interested in learning more about the sport, Goss said he often sees younger players come to the hostel for training.

“We have about 25 to 30 players that come here every day,” Goss added.

“If you’re a young kid that’s just playing hockey, this is not the right place for you.”

The Bemido Sports Club hosts an annual youth hockey tournament called the “Bemidje Ice Hockey League”.

“The goal is to bring kids together, and if that means having a place where they can go play together and share their skills, that’s what we do,” Gould said.

The goal, Gould added, is to create a better world for kids.
